Home town pride

I don't normally take the time to blog on the day to day life of living in Calgary, because it's home, it just is what it is, nothing exciting or "adventurous". I have a confession to make, I'm a bit of a nomad, always looking for some place new (or old) to move or explore, that's just part of who I am, on the move, never settling down. However, in wake of the recent flooding (see links at bottom of post) and after witnessing the absolute kindness and sincere generosity of so many fellow Calgarians, I feel guilty for not giving the city more credit. Upon seeing the heart-felt response of the entire city to those affected by the flooding here in Calgary and surrounding communities, it makes me proud to call Calgary my home.

This afternoon a few of us wandered out in attempt to help in the flood clean-up, and we were clearly a bit late to the party, because in just a short couple of days it is amazing to see what thousands of cheerful and hard working volunteers have accomplished. I know there are thousands of blogs, tweets, and facebook shout-outs honoring the flood recovery volunteers, so I won't drag this out, but just wanted to say that I'm proud to be a Calgarian and happy to call the city my home.

Thanks Calgary, and let's keep this spirit of neighborly kindness and generosity going, come "hell or high water" (to quote the president of Calgary Stampede)! :)
